Connor is 15 months!!!

That's right! Bubby is officially 15 months old as of October 20th!

Dear Connor,

It has been so exciting to watch you learn and grow! We can't believe how much you change everyday! So, here are 15 things we want to remember about you at this age:

1. You absolutely LOVE fall! You think it is awesome to go outside and play with your ball or jump in the leaves.  In fact, you get pretty mad when me make you come in! lol

2.  Your vocabulary has really grown this month.  You're saying all kinds of words... Ma-ma, Da-da, Ne-Ne, Ba-bal (Papaw), Yeah, No, ball, uh-oh, eat, ba-ba (bottle), poo poo (Momma didn't mean to teach you that one! lol), and bath... just to name the ones I can think of! You are growing up sooooo fast!

3.  You still LOVE your baths, but you only want to stand up in the tub.  You are too busy to sit down! LOL

4.  You have learned how to take off your shirt.  So instead of napping, you usually take your clothes off instead, lol.

5.  You are on the go, nonstop!  Every time I turn around, you have gotten yourself into a hilarious predicament! (Such as the hamper incident... lol)

6.  You love your Ma-ma and Da-da soooooo much! You like to follow us around and see what we are doing.  The whole time you say, "Ma-ma! Da-da!" My favorite is when you give us hugs and kisses! I hope you always do that!

7.  You are obsessed with cell phones! You steal my phone all the time and even know how to unlock it and call people!

8.  When you take things that you know you are not supposed to have, you run and sit outside Momma and Da-da's bedroom door in the corner like we can't "see" you there! LOL

9.  We announced this month that you are going to be a BIG BROTHER!!! You are going to such a great big brother, too! <3

10.  You all of the sudden have stared to "understand English" as I call it.  In other words, you understand what we are saying to you or are asking you to do! Its so neat to see you learning so much! When I say its bath time, you run to the bathroom door and wait!  When I say bring me the ball, you do!  Your little light bulb has really come on! lol

11.  You LOVE to read!  You bring us book after book and climb into our laps so we can read to you!

12.  Your favorite books this month are Babyberry Pie and Goodnight Gorilla.

13. You think your cousin Ryan is the best! You have to be the one to go in his room every morning to say "Get up!" You love it when he and his girlfriend Kylie play with you!

14.  You LOVE to eat! It is so funny because when you are ready to eat, you yell "EAT!" and run to your highchair and try to climb in! lol

15.  You like to wear your jacket and hat in the house! lol  You bring it to me because you want it on! Its pretty funny! lol

You are the most wonderful, bubbly, sweet, and cuddly 15 month old there is! We can't get enough of you and your little chubby cheeks!  We LOVE you sooooooooo much and can't wait to see what you have in store for us next month! :)

We love you to the moon and back a million times!
Love,
Momma and Da-da

Pregnancy...round 2!

Baby Shacklett #2 is nice and cozy in hotel uterus and hopefully he or she enjoys the stay for at least 28 more weeks! :)

I'm 11 weeks and 2 days exactly placing my due date on May 3rd.  However, the ultrasound dated me for May 2nd.

Does this mean baby is already measuring large?? 10 pounds was REALLY tough last time! I'd be super thrilled with 9 1/2 pounds! LOL

I'm exhausted.  I could literally sleep for 24 hours straight.  I'm sure of it.

I've been very lucky when it comes to pregnancy symptoms in both of my pregnancies.  No morning sickness.  I mainly have food aversions and bloat! :/

HOLY FOOD AVERSIONS, though!!!  I CAN'T WAIT for these nasty food aversions to subside!  Pretty much EVERYTHING sounds disgusting! There are very few things I can eat without wanting to puke!  So, needless to say, thank goodness for prenatal vitamins because my diet is terrible!  I can't look at a vegetable and meat really grosses me out right now.  I pretty much live off of peanut butter and milk.  The more bland, the better!

I have a major sweet tooth this time.

My only MAJOR craving so far is vanilla milkshakes.  With Connor, it was spicy Cheetoes.

I lost 6 pounds because of food aversions, but then gained it back!  So I guess "technically" I haven't gained anything yet.  Don't worry, I'm SURE that will change real soon!

Did I mention that I'm exhausted?

Baby's heart rate was 131 at our ultrasound around 6 weeks.  At 11 weeks, baby's heart rate was 160.  Any predictions on gender?? :)

We keep getting asked what we want.  My answer is THIS BABY.  We want this baby that God has given us... be it a girl or a boy.  It would be awesome to have a girl so that we have a boy and a girl, but we'd be soooooooo happy to have another beautiful, healthy boy as well.

The Chinese birth calendar predicted a boy for my pregnancy with Connor and is predicting a GIRL for this pregnancy.  We shall see! ;)

Yes, we already have names picked out! :)  No, I'm not telling! You'll have to wait until December when we find out the gender! ;)

My birth plan is to have a natural delivery without the use of pain medications.  I will totally need your prayers for that one!  I ended up delivering Connor without an epidural, so hopefully I can muster up the get-up and go to do it again.

We also keep getting asked if this is it for us.  The answer is we are undecided.  We'll see how two goes! :)

I almost forgot to mention that  I'm really exhausted ALL THE TIME! ;)

Lastly, my Bubby is super excited!!!  He is going to be such a great big brother!!!

We have an Announcement!!!

Connor says:  Read my shirt!!!

Yes, you read that correctly!  Connor is being promoted to big brother - effective May 2012!  :)

We are SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!

Baby Shacklett #2 is due to arrive on May 3rd, 2012.  Here's a first glimpse at our little bundle:

This was our 6 week scan! :)

I'm 11 weeks and 1 day today!!!  28 weeks and 6 days until we meet BABY!  We had our first appointment with our OB today, and baby's heartbeat sounded great!!!  We can't wait to meet you Baby!  Let the countdown begin!

We are sooooo grateful that God has entrusted another precious life into our care!!!
We would be so thankful and appreciative of your prayers for a healthy pregnancy, safe delivery, and healthy baby!!!

Look for more updates on Baby Shacklett #2 soon!

Fall Break :)

Wonderful fall break has arrived!!! Unfortunately, our fabulously fun plans are on hold until we all feel better! That's right, the Shacklett house is under quarantine while we all recover from our colds! :(  I have been washing sheets and going crazy with the Lysol hoping to shorten our visit from the cold fairy.

Check out my little trooper enjoying a snack of grapes and cheddar bunnies!  Can you tell he doesn't feel good?

I know what your thinking... what happened to his face?!?!?!?!  Well, those are Bubby's toddler battle wounds.  Here's an up close:

The left forehead bruise is from gracefully tripping over his fire truck, and the right eyebrow/cheek bruise is from running FULL SPEED into the door frame! Ouch!  I think I may need to invest in padding for my walls!  These battle wounds don't seem to phase Bubby one bit, though!  Check out that grin!

Fourteen FANTASTIC Months

I'm a few days early with this post, but that's ok!  Can you believe it? FOURTEEN MONTHS OLD!!!! I can't believe my BABY is 14 months old!  Here are 14 things I want to remember about you, Bubby, at this age:

Can you tell you are our whole world??? :)

1.  You are signing!!! You have learned to sign "more," "all done," and "yes."  Next we are going to work on "eat," "please," and "goodnight."

2.  You are currently cutting 8 teeth... all at once! Two molars on the top, two molars on the bottom, and all four I-teeth.  I feel for you Bubby! Some days are better than others. Of course teething often brings those other unwanted symptoms for you... the drool, runny nose, low fever, and messy diapers are definitely no fun!  Hang in there!

3.  You are a great sleeper!!! A few months ago, this was a different story! LOL  You generally go to bed at 7 and sleep until 6 or 7 the next morning.  You take 1 or 2 naps a day that are 1.5 hours each.  I think you are ready to drop your second nap for good, which is a sad Mommy moment because it means my baby is growing up!

4.  You love trying new foods! You are such a big boy now and always want to try anything Momma and Da-da eat.  You are very particular about what you like, though! :)  You LOVE any fruit and recently tried mac-and-cheese for the first time! You thought it was pretty awesome!

5.  Your favorite book right now is The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Speaking of the Hungry Catepillar, I REALLY want to do THIS for your bathroom!!!

6. You love, and I mean LOVE to play outside!  You don't even need toys! You are perfectly content running around in the grass!  You are ALL boy!

7.  You are still not a fan of diaper/clothing changes! LOL  Hopefully that changes soon! :)  You have, however, started to try to help us dress and undress you! You help pull your shirts over your head and you step out of your pants!!! You're such a big boy!

8.  You are learning to share.  You are doing sooooo well, but we still have room to grow! :)  This year, you are super lucky to have one-on-one attention all day while Momma is a work, which means you have your toys all to yourself.  To help you learn to socialize, share, and be part of a group, we are going to play dates, Sunday School at church, and we make plenty of time to play with your cousins Tyler and Laci.  Sometimes you are so sweet and walk over to hand a friend a toy, but there are still the occasional toy snatches and "Indian giving."  You are also super interested in borrowing others' pacis or sippy cups!!!  We are going to keep making plenty of opportunities for you to play with other kiddos your age so you get better and better at sharing! :)

9.  You have become a PRO at walking! You are now trying to run, climb, and jump!

10.  You LOVE to dance! You are soooooooo funny because you stick up your pointer fingers and wave your arms to the music while squatting up and down!  NeNe must have taught you that while Momma was at work! You crack me up every time!  You know and respond to the word "dance" too! When Momma says "Dance, Bubby!"

11.  You love to sing songs with Momma, Da-da, or NeNe.  You like the ABC song, Patty Cake, and The Wheels on the Bus!  You LOVE the motions with Patty Cake and do them soooooo well!

12.  At 6:30 a.m. on the nose you go to Ryan's door and wait for me to open it so you can tell Ryan, "Get-Up!"  You walk around to each side of his bed saying "get up!"  Although it sounds more like "GA-UH!" LOL

13. While we get ready in the mornings, you like to open the dresser drawers and bring us one item of clothing at a time. LOL Then Momma and Da-da get to put them all back! LOL

14.  You still LOVE bath time!  This is bonding time for you and Da-da each night!  You get sooooooooooo excited when you hear him start the water that I can barely get your clothes off before you are running away to the bathroom!  You two are pretty funny in there!  I think Da-da likes the toys as much as you do!!!

Without a doubt you are one precious, energetic, sweet, rambunctious, and silly 14 month old and I wouldn't trade one moment of our crazy, wonderful, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants life!  I LOVE you sooooooooooooooooo much and am sooooooooo glad I get to be your Mommy!  I'm soooooooo looking forward to month 15!!!

Did I mention how silly you are??? LOL  You always get in your Cozy Coupe backwards! LOL

Marching Season has Begun!

What's the best thing about fall?? No, not football.  ITS MARCHING BAND SEASON!!!  From September to November we are CRAZY busy with marching competitions EVERY weekend.  Hubby James works for the Meade County High School Marching Band as a staff member. He works with the low brass players and also helps with marching and anything else where his expertise is needed.  He's pretty good with technology so he helps with the sound system as well.   (Fun Fact:  he and I are both alumni!)  Ryan is a senior in the band, so this is his FINAL season!!!

Two seasons ago, before Bubby, I chaperoned every trip and had a blast!!!  Now that little man is here, we go cheer on Ryan and Daddy from the stands! ( I can't leave my Bubby for that long! lol)  I might chaperone some of the closer competitions this year since its Ryan's SENIOR YEAR.  We'll see!  Here are some pics of our day!

Enjoying a snack in the stands :)

So each school has exactly 15 minutes to get on and off the field.  Not one second more.  In this pic, the band is getting ready for the march on while the pit crew (parent volunteers and staff) drive on and unload as quickly as possible!

Daddy!!! What are you doing over there??

See the rainbow that came out??

The pit performing.

Bubby thought the band was pretty awesome! Although, the highlight of the performance was seeing daddy on the other side of the fence.
