Florida Vacay 2011

Our little Shacklett fam just returned from a 5 night 6 day getaway to Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Florida and it was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!!

 It was sooooooooooooooo nice to getaway and relax on the beach or by the pool... especially since Momma finished her exams to complete her master's degree just 2 days before we left!

My in-laws were so nice to lend us their van for the trip!!  The first stop after that 10 hour drive?? Not the condo... THE BEACH! We couldn't wait! LOL  We took a quick little detour to see the waves!

We had a great time at the beach and pool all week!  Turns out my little Bubby is quite the water baby! He LOVED being in the water!

We didn't spend all of our time in the sand and sun, though.  We coordinated a few shopping trips, food excursions, and sight seeing adventures.  We also had to take a few nap breaks for our sweet boy.

Must See Places:

Fudpuckers  Yummy, yummy seafood and a really neat atmosphere! Pretty cool T-shirts too!

Jim 'N Nicks BBQ  The most AMAZING barbecue I have ever eaten... and their cheese biscuits put Red Lobster's to shame!!!

Five Guys Burgers and Fries  Best. Burgers. Ever. Period.

Silver Sands Outlet Mall  Can I just say OMGOSH! Its like Disney Land for adults!!!  Outlet prices for EVERY store you can think of.  I was IN LOVE!  I made out like a bandit with tons of loot from Children's Place, Carters, Oshkosh,  Stride Rite, and MANY more places.  AND we only made it to half of the stores! Who knows what other bargains I missed out on!!!

We ended the last night of our fabulous stay with a family photo shoots on the beach! These pics turned out pretty cute! ;)

*HOW PERFECT!!!*

I thought I was TOTALLY prepared to go to Florida.  I made a to-do list, and a list of everything I needed to pack... but, (of course) I ended up forgetting about 20 things that should have been on that list! LOL There were several things I forgot that we needed for Connor.  Oops!  Thus, a trip to Target was in order!  :)While in the baby section gathering the items we needed, James spotted this bib!!!  I absolutely could not pass it up! It was mine for $2.79.  Score!!!

*eLeVeN ExCiTiNg mOntHs*

Its official.  I have one month left until my BABY is officially considered a "TODDLER!"  This is what I will always picture in my mind... probably even when he's 40:

Without a doubt, these have been the BEST 11 months of my life!  Here are 11 things I want to remember about you, Bubby, at this age:

1.  You are doing something new every single day! Last month you learned how to sit up in your crib, and this month you are standing and cruising (walking while holding on to the rail)!!!

Unfortunately, the mobile had to go this month!  Now that you can reach it,

you pull the animals off!  We left the projector part of the mobile up though.

You love watching in on the ceiling as you try to go to sleep (or try not to go to sleep! hehe)

2.  Not only do you pull up to standing and cruise in your crib, but you now do that EVERYWHERE! And I mean EVERYWHERE... the living room, the bathtub, the church pew... everywhere! lol  You LOVE to walk along the couch and see what all you can get into.  This means no more leaving cups on the end tables... or remotes! hehe

3.  You still think bath time is the greatest thing EVER!  You get very excited when you hear the water running! :)  Now you like to stand beside the tub and watch it fill up!

4.  We helped daddy celebrate his FIRST ever Father's day!  You and Daddy even got a gift at church for being the Daddy with the youngest baby! :)

We both think Daddy is pretty awesome! ;)

5.  You are officially crawling on your hands and knees! Momma actually thought you were going to skip this and just go straight to walking, but you surprised us all!

It gets you where you need to go A LOT faster! lol

6.  The sleep situation is getting much better this month!  You are sometimes quite the challenge to get to sleep! You go down for bedtime like a dream... after a few cuddles with Ma-ma, you lay in your crib and are out like a light for 10-12 hours! :)

Now, nap time is a different story!  In the past 2 weeks, you have gone from taking three naps... to two naps... to one nap... to thinking you don't need ANY naps! lol  Momma begs to differ.  We will be taking at least one nap Bubby. :)  Now that you can stand in your crib and cruise... you refuse to succumb to sleep!

LOL! You are pretty funny when you are fighting your sleep, Bubby!

Nap time is getting better though.  :)  Some days you surprise me and go right to sleep, and other days it takes a while... and a little bit of playing to do the trick.  I'm sure we'll be back on track soon! ;)

7.  This month we have graduated to more big boy foods!  You love eating granola bars, acorn squash, green beans, mashed potatoes, banana slices, apple chunks, and crushed blueberries, YUM!  You are even becoming a pro at the sippy cup!

8.  You have started to figure out how to work your toys all by yourself!  You squeeze Scout the Dog's paw so that he will sing to you.  You press the buttons on your musical books, toys, and on your mobile.  My personal favorite is that you learned how to put the ball in the giraffe's mouth on one of your toys, see:

9.  You are pointing!  You've figured out how to get that little index finger up in the air all by itself!  You point to things you want and things you want to know more about!  You love to point at the lights because you think they are pretty cool! :)  Here you are pointing to Momma:

10.  You have found your nose!!! LOL  Momma has been asking you for months, "Where's your nose?" and now you can point to it!  You can also point out Momma and Da-da's noses!  You are growing up so fast!

11.  Last, but not least, your current favorite toy is Leap Frog Fridge Phonics!  You think it is the best thing since sliced bread! You love to play with it while Momma and Da-da work in the kitchen!  It keeps you occupied long enough for us to cook or clean up! :)  Momma loves that fact that you try to sing the letter sounds with it! :)

Just think, in a month I'll be posting about all that my toddler is doing! :(  I can't believe you are going to be a whole year old!  With that in mind, next up:  a trip to Florida and your FIRST birthday party!!!!  Lots of exciting things coming up! :)  (Stay tuned to our blog for updates!)
